Does this treatment remove color tattoos?
With the cutting edge technology our 4 different wavelengths will remove all colors. Yellow and white are stubborn and additional treatments are needed to produce significant fading.

How does it work?
Lasers work by producing short pulses of intense light that pass harmlessly through the top layers of the skin to be selectively absorbed by the tattoo pigment. This laser energy causes the tattoo pigment to fragment into smaller particles that are then removed by the body's immune system. The laser selectively targets the pigment of the tattoo without damaging the surrounding skin.
We have 4 wavelengths of light to use to treat all colors to deliver the laser's output to best remove the tatoo ink. This is why Q-switched ND Yag lasers cause no scarring while continuous lasers almost always do.

How many treatments will it take to remove a tattoo?
We can only estimate the number of treatments it will take to completely remove the tattoo. This is because: a) The wide variations of inks and pigmentation materials used for tattooing. b)The inks themselves are made up of a combination of different chemical substances. c)The amount of ink placed in the tattoo, as well as the depth of pigment placement varies from one tattoo to another. d)The ability of your white blood cells to "gobble up and drag away" different pigment particles varies. e)Other unknown factors. As a result of these many issues we cannot be absolutely certain how your particular tattoo will respond. Most "amateur" or "home-made" tattoos will generally require about 4-6 laser treatments. "Professional" tattoos and those done with harder inks, tend to be more variable in response, and average about 6-10 treatments. Some stubborn tattoo inks may require even more treatments.

Is the process painful?
The Q-Switched laser emits light in very short pulses. The impact of the energy from the powerful pulse of light is similar to the snap of a thin rubber band. Some discomfort may be experienced during laser treatment and local, topical or no anesthesia may be recommended. After the treatment, the area will feel similar to a slight sunburn. Typically, within a day or so, any discomfort disappears. The area may remain red for two to four weeks. After the redness clears, the skin returns to its normal color and texture.

Will the tattoo completely disappear?
Yes, in many cases. Greater than 95% fading of the tattoo may be accomplished. However, it is very important to know that there are many, many types of tattoo inks are in use worldwide today, none of which are regulated by the FDA. Not knowing which tattoo ink was used or how deeply the ink was applied, makes it impossible for the physician to predict the degree of removal on any given tattoo.
